Long days, and short on time

July 10, 2013

We hope all of you are enjoying summer. For some of you that means breaks from classes – attending or teaching them – but it often tends to be one of the busiest times of the year. Our staff is working hard to keep up with your submissions, despite traveling abroad, home renovations, changes in address, and the dreaded day-job.

We’d just like to remind you that we’re currently holding our second annual chapbook contest, the Vella Chapbook Award, for a collection of poetry, short fiction, or any combination thereof, between 16 and 24 pages. Entries are accepted until August 15th, just a little over a month away, and we’re excited to find out what our next winning manuscript will be.

Enter at https://papernautilus.submittable.com/submit/21067. Our entry fee is only $11. We try to keep our fees as low as possible, to keep contests accessible to everyone who may be interested. While we would love to hold our contests free of charge, these are an important means for us to insure that Paper Nautilus remains financially stable. Your entry to our chapbook contest not only offers an opportunity for us to publish your collection, but also helps ensure that new writers are discovered all the time, and that Paper Nautilus can continue to support writers, both through chapbooks and our annual print journal. We are grateful to all who have submitted, and look forward to following up last year’s contest with another stunning publication.

Best,
Lisa Mangini
