One Week Left!
August 8, 2011
This is just a reminder that ALL submissions have a deadline of August 15th, which is only one week from today!
This includes entries for the 2011 Vella Poetry Prize; your entry is an expert multi-tasker, because every entry:
-helps to commemorate Nancy and Charles Vella, whose generosity made Paper Nautilus a reality.
-supports Paper Nautilus, so we can continue to run a financially-sustainable publication and feature all of our talented contributors (which, as an aside, have ranged from writers published in The New Yorker to those whose first published work will appear in our pages this October).
-honors a poem of outstanding quality and craft with recognition, and a prize of $100. In a culture that’s constantly buzzing with rumors that literary pursuits like poetry don’t really matter anymore, we want to do our part to fight that speculation and demonstrate that yes, it indeed does matter.
For just a $5 entry fee, you can help us do all of those things. And if that’s not in your budget, we’re happy to read your submissions anyway, which are free and will remain open for the 2011 issue for the next 7 days.
(And prose-writers: don’t despair! We’re hoping to have special prizes for you folks during our next submissions period!)
All submissions received after August 15th will gladly be considered for the following issue (as in, October of 2012). But really, there’s never going to be another inaugural issue, and we’d love to have you be a part of it.
